Package Exports

@jsbits/escape-regex-str

This package does not declare an exports field, so the exports above have been automatically detected and optimized by JSPM instead. If any package subpath is missing, it is recommended to post an issue to the original package (@jsbits/escape-regex-str) to support the "exports" field. If that is not possible, create a JSPM override to customize the exports field for this package.

@jsbits/escape-regex-str

Part of the JSBits suite.

Escapes special characters in a string, for matching substrings with a RegExp instance.

Install

For NodeJS and JS bundlers:

npm i @jsbits/escape-regex-str
# or
yarn add @jsbits/escape-regex-str

or load escapeRegexStr in the browser:

`escapeRegexStr(str)` ⇒ `string`

Escapes special characters in a given string in preparation to be used as argument of the JS RegExp constructor, useful when you want to match the given string as a literal substring.

// without escapeRegexStr, the test fails.
const regex1 = new RegExp(sourceStr)
console.log(regex1.test('Unicorn (white): $1.00')) // ⇒ false

// with escapeRegexStr, it succeeds.
const regex2 = new RegExp(escapeRegexStr(sourceStr))
console.log(regex2.test('Unicorn (white): $1.00')) // ⇒ true

Imports
