Reactive color shades generator for TailwindCSS

Package Exports

  • tailwindcss-custom-colors
  • tailwindcss-custom-colors/dist/index.js

This package does not declare an exports field, so the exports above have been automatically detected and optimized by JSPM instead. If any package subpath is missing, it is recommended to post an issue to the original package (tailwindcss-custom-colors) to support the "exports" field. If that is not possible, create a JSPM override to customize the exports field for this package.

Usage

Import

import { generateConfig } from "tailwindcss-custom-colors";
import { generateStyleVariables } from "tailwindcss-custom-colors";

generateConfig()

const extendedColors = generateConfig(colorNames, options);

The generateConfig function takes the following parameters:

  • colorNames: An array of color names or a single color name.
  • options (optional): An object of options that allows you to customize the generated colors. The available options are suffixMultiplier (default: 100), which determines the suffix used to generate variables names (e.g [1, 10, 100]) and variablePrefix (default: undefined), which determines the prefix for the css variable name, none by default.

The function returns a config object for Tailwind CSS with the specified color names and their respective tints.

generateStyleVariables()

const variables = generateStyleVariables(colorParams, options);

The generateStyleVariables function takes the following parameters:

  • colorParams: An array of color params or a single color params including a color (hex) and a name.

Example

Extend your tailwind config

tailwind.config.js

/** @type {import('tailwindcss').Config} */
import { generateConfig } from "tailwindcss-custom-colors";

const extendedColors = generateConfig(["primary", "secondary"]);

module.exports = {
  content: ["./src/**/*.{index,vue,js,ts,jsx,tsx}"],
  theme: {
    extend: {
      colors: extendedColors,
    },
  },
  plugins: [],
};

Output for extendedColors:

{
  "primary": {
    "100": "rgb(var(--primary-100) / <alpha-value>)",
    "200": "rgb(var(--primary-200) / <alpha-value>)",
    "300": "rgb(var(--primary-300) / <alpha-value>)",
    "400": "rgb(var(--primary-400) / <alpha-value>)",
    "500": "rgb(var(--primary-500) / <alpha-value>)",
    "600": "rgb(var(--primary-600) / <alpha-value>)",
    "700": "rgb(var(--primary-700) / <alpha-value>)",
    "800": "rgb(var(--primary-800) / <alpha-value>)",
    "900": "rgb(var(--primary-900) / <alpha-value>)",
    "DEFAULT": "rgb(var(--primary) / <alpha-value>)",
    "contrast": "rgb(var(--primary-contrast) / <alpha-value>)",
    "complement": "rgb(var(--primary-complement) / <alpha-value>)"
  },
  "secondary": {
    "100": "rgb(var(--secondary-100) / <alpha-value>)",
    "200": "rgb(var(--secondary-200) / <alpha-value>)",
    "300": "rgb(var(--secondary-300) / <alpha-value>)",
    "400": "rgb(var(--secondary-400) / <alpha-value>)",
    "500": "rgb(var(--secondary-500) / <alpha-value>)",
    "600": "rgb(var(--secondary-600) / <alpha-value>)",
    "700": "rgb(var(--secondary-700) / <alpha-value>)",
    "800": "rgb(var(--secondary-800) / <alpha-value>)",
    "900": "rgb(var(--secondary-900) / <alpha-value>)",
    "DEFAULT": "rgb(var(--secondary) / <alpha-value>)",
    "contrast": "rgb(var(--secondary-contrast) / <alpha-value>)",
    "complement": "rgb(var(--secondary-complement) / <alpha-value>)"
